Summer has already knocked the doors, the temperature starts growing day by day leaving everyone feeling exhausted, fatigued and tired. This is a time when we need to take care of our health more because excessive sweating brings dehydration in our body and because of that we may fall sick. For re-hydrating ourselves or to quench our thirst we are highly dependent on water.

This summer I will suggest you try some of the cool refreshing beverages that not only quench your thirst but also make you feel refreshing, renewing and energetic. These beverages are easy to make, you can prepare it in your kitchen with some simple and healthy ingredients. And I must say that even kids will also love to have these drinks.

Four Easy and Refreshing Summer Drinks:


1. Nimbu Paani Or Lemonade

Let’s start with my favorite simple but yet more refreshing drink that is Nimbu Paani. This will help you in healthy digestion as well as provides energy too. Any of you can make it easily in your home. You can prepare this beverage by using a few ingredients like lemon, sugar, salt, water and mint leaves. For flavor, you can also add some spices like cumin powder, coriander powder, chaat masala, etc.

Recipe: To make Nimbu Paani take water in a jug or any vessel, squeeze lemon in it. Then add sugar (as per your taste) and pinch of salt and mint leaves in it. ( If you want to mix spices you can mix it). Mix them well so that sugar gets dissolved properly. Now serve this drink in a glass with some ice cubes.

2. Lassi

Having chilled lassi is the best thing one can experience in summer.
Lassi is the most common beverage in India, especially in Punjab and Haryana. Lassi is made by blending yogurt, water, sugar, and some spices. You can add fruits like mango, banana for flavor and bring variations in Lassi. Lassi is quite beneficial for our digestive system as it is made of yogurt or dahi.

Recipe: To prepare lassi put yogurt or dahi, water, ice cubes, sugar, spices like cardamon powder ( fruits if you are using it) in a blender and blend them nicely until the mixture turns frothy. Now pour the mixture in a glass and serve it.  

3. Buttermilk (Chaas)

Buttermilk commonly known as Chaas is a very popular and favorite drink of Indians. It is very refreshing and cooling drink. Since it is made of curd it helps in the digestion process. It can easily be prepared with simple and easily available ingredients like yogurt or dahi, salt, and cumin.

Recipe: To prepare Chaas put yogurt or dahi, salt (as per your taste) and cumin powder in a bowl. Mix them well. Now add chilled water in it and whisk properly. For tempering put oil in a pan, heat it and put cumin seeds in it, let them crackle and then add this tempering into Chaas. Now pour this in a glass and serve it.

4. Aam Panna

Another refreshing and cool drink of summer is Aam Panna. It is very popular in India. It helps you in remaining hydrated and also fight against the scorching heat of summer and protects you from sun strokes. It is made of green mangoes, cumin, and mint leaves.

Recipe: To prepare Aam Panna first boil green mangoes till their pulp become soft. Now peel off the skin and squeeze the pulp in a blender. Put sugar, salt (as per your taste), cumin powder and mint leaves in pulp, and blend the mixture nicely.  Now add this mixture in a glass and put some ice cubes and serve it.
